Finite element model of an equipment cabinet on resilient mounts, showing stress distribution

Services

Analyses in Autodesk Inventor Nastran, checked with hand calculations. You get a fixed price up front, with assumptions and exclusions in writing.

1400 a(t) deck resilient mounting
  • Detail calculation

One component or connection: lifting eye, bracket, foundation detail, welded or bolted joint (EN 1993-1-8).

You supply: STEP file, loads, material and acceptance criteria.

    from € 750
  • Maritime structural analysis

Steel frames, skids, foundations, crane pedestals and davits with multiple load cases: ship motions, lifting and operation. Checks against class rules (DNV, BV, LR) or EN 13001, including buckling and fatigue where needed.

You supply: STEP file, load specification and applicable rules.

    from € 1,500
  • Vibration analysis

Natural frequencies against engine, propeller and pump excitation. Response levels, assessment to ISO 20283 / ISO 6954 and concrete proposals for stiffening or isolation.

You supply: STEP file, masses, mounting and running speeds.

    from € 1,500
  • Shock analysis and resilient mountings

Shock calculations for equipment on board naval vessels. Design and assessment of resilient mountings and shock mounts, and support with shock tests. Also: supplier specifications and verification of their documentation.

You supply: STEP file, masses and centre of gravity, mounting and the shock requirements of the yard or integrator.

    on request
Static
linear, nonlinear (contact, plasticity, rubber), bolt preload
Dynamic
natural frequencies, frequency response, random vibration, response spectrum, transient
Stability
buckling, linear and nonlinear; fatigue
Thermal
heat transfer and thermal stress

Approach

I work two days a week for maritime clients, so I plan tightly and agree up front when you will have the report.

  1. Your question

Send a drawing or STEP file with the loads. If that is enough, I quote straight away; if not, we have a short call.

  2. Quotation

A fixed price within two working days, with assumptions, exclusions and planning.

  3. Analysis

FEM model in Inventor Nastran, checked with hand calculations.

  4. Report

A clear report you can forward, including an explanation of the results by phone or email.

About Tom Hartman

I am a mechanical engineer based in Dordrecht (BSc TU Delft). After five years at Damen Green Solutions I have worked independently since 2019, mainly on shock and vibration for naval vessels.

I bring that experience to maritime companies without their own FEM or dynamics specialist, or whose specialist is fully booked.

  • RH Marine – shock specialistShock calculations, tests and specifications to make electronic components meet the latest shock requirements.
  • Damen Naval – shock and noiseDevelopment of shock mounts and resiliently mounted systems to the new shock requirements.
  • RH Marine – project engineerDesign of command consoles for naval vessels, including strength and thermal calculations.
  • Damen Green Solutions – development engineerR&D on exhaust gas cleaning for ships, design and proposals (2014–2019).

Send your question

Briefly describe the component, the loads and your deadline. A STEP file or drawing is welcome. You will hear from me within two working days. Need an NDA first? Just mention it.
